'The Deptford Jack' - A Film By Luke Overin

HERESY present 'The Deptford Jack', a new film work by Luke Overin.

The film documents last year's Deptford Jack In The Green, which would have been held 1st May 2020 if not for the COVID pandemic.

The May Day celebration dates back to the 18th century and is held in various towns in the U.K. The Deptford Jack in the Green is held by the Fowlers Troop.

'The Fowlers Troop Jack in the Green was revived by members of Blackheath Morris Men and friends in the early 1980s. It is a revival of a Jack in the Green from the late 19th/early 20th century which was taken out around Deptford, South East London on May Day by the original Fowlers Troop.'
